The online cameras will take you to Pichincha Province, situated in the north-central part of Ecuador. It shares borders with Napo and Sucumbíos on the east, Cotopaxi and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas on the south, Esmeraldas and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas on the west, and Imbabura and Esmeraldas on the north.
It includes the country's capital, Quito, which is also the province’s capital.
Quito is famous for its superb historic centre. Among the most impressive buildings and sites are the Neo-Gothic Basilica de Voto Nacional, the Spanish Baroque Church of the Society of Jesus (Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús), La Ronda artistic street, and Plaza de la Independencia, the city’s main square.
Surrounded by volcanoes, there are many superb viewpoints overlooking Quito. The most spectacular viewpoints are from the hill of El Panecillo, where stands the famous Virgin of El Panecillo sculpture, and also from the east side of Pichincha volcano, reachable by the gondola lift called TelefériQo.
In Quito, you may also visit the Ciudad Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World City), an area marking the location of the Equator line and featuring other attractions such as a museum, a planetarium, and many events.
Situated in the geographical region of La Sierra, this province offers stunning landscapes of valleys and mountains covered with forests, where an abundance of wildlife, such as hummingbird species, is found, especially at Alambi Reserve. In the mountainous watershed of Mindo Valley, the Chocoan lowlands and the Tropical Andes meet, two of the most biologically diverse regions in the world. The area is a hotspot for activities such as rafting, trekking, canyoning, mountain biking, and birdwatching.
