Nuevo León, formally called Free and Sovereign State of Nuevo León (Estado Libre y Soberano de Nuevo León) is a state of Mexico, situated in the northeast part of the country.
The state capital, Monterrey, is an attractive city featuring an old Spanish charm specially in the quarter Barrio Antiguo. Among the many other outstanding sites to explore, it has the fourth largest square in the world - the 99-acre Macroplaza; the MARCO - the Museum of Contemporary Art - featuring an exquisite design, the García Caves and the Horsetail Waterfalls.
Nuevo León is ideal for adventure sports including rock climbing as the state offers mountainous landscapes namely the Sierra Madre Occidental featuring numerous high peaks.
