Located east of Germany, in Central Europe, Poland (Polska) is bathed by the Baltic Sea and enjoys a temperate climate, with cold, rainy winters, and mild, humid summers. The majority of the 38,500,000 inhabitants is Catholic. This country is famous for having a strong connection to the Jewish community, as it can be witnessed at the Auschwitz concentration camp, as well as at the Warsaw Uprising Museum, in the capital city, Warsaw (Mazovia Province). One of the best examples of medieval architecture is the 14th-century Wawel Castle, in Krakow, Lesser Poland. Lodz, Wroclaw and Poznan are other interesting cities to visit, and Wieliczka Salt Mine, Malbork Castle or Tatra Mountains are some of the country’s landmarks.
