The Duluth Ship Canal comprises two breakwaters, 1,720 feet (520 m) in length and located 300 feet (91 m) apart, allowing access for large ships to Duluth Harbor. The Aerial Lift Bridge that spans the Duluth Ship Canal on Lake Avenue is an important attraction in the city, as well as all the lakefront area, with recreation, cultural spaces, and parks.
