Nevada is a western U.S. state within the region of the Mountain States. Since its terrain is largely semi-arid, the majority of the population lives in the large urban centres: Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise, NV Metropolitan area and Reno-Sparks Metropolitan area, in the western part. Carson City is also on the west side, and although it is the state’s capital, it is an independent city. Las Vegas, the main attraction in Nevada, is a resort city internationally famous for the night entertainment, gambling and fine hotels.
