East Flanders (Oost-Vlaanderen; Province de Flandre-Orientale; Ostflandern) is a province in the region Flanders, in Belgium.  It borders on the Netherlands, the provinces of Antwerp of West Flanders, Hainaut, Antwerp and Flemish Brabant.
Its capital is the warm and vibrant city of Ghent which combines medieval architecture and art with the best of the contemporary culture. Ghent has marvellous riverfronts to show you, important museums and eccentric bars. Ghent is a must-see city in Belgium, as well as Oudenaarde and Sint-Niklaas. East Flanders is a popular province for cycling, on the route of the famous Tour of Flanders (Ronde van Vlaanderen) and also for water sports on the lake Donk, including sailing, fishing and even ice skating, when the lake freezes.
