The province of Limburg, in Belgium, is situated in the eastern part of the country west of the River Meuse, bordering the Netherlands (north, east) and the provinces of Liège (south), Flemish Brabant and Antwerp (west), and within the Dutch-speaking Region of Flanders. The historic cities include the capital, Hasselt, and Tongeren, a Roman city considered the oldest in the country. Limburg has a mining history such as in Beringen city and natural landscapes, excellent for hiking and cycling.
