The Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte is situated in the northeast part of Brazil, having the northeasternmost tip of South America within its territory. It has borders with the states of Ceará (west) and Paraíba (south), and a long Atlantic Ocean coastline to the north and east. This state is a tourist destination, mainly for the long impressive beaches. Other compelling features are the sand dunes, the rich rainforests of the interior and the Rocas Atoll, the only atoll in the South Atlantic Ocean. The state capital, Natal, is a very beautiful city with stunning beaches such as Ponta Negra and many attractions such as Natal Dunes State Park, which protects Atlantic Forest and dunes.
