Sudbury, officially known as the City of Greater Sudbury, is the most populous and largest city in Northern Ontario, with a population of over 166,000 people. Greater Sudbury is also home to several post-secondary institutions, including Laurentian University and Cambrian College, which attract students from all over the world.
The city, nicknamed "City of Lakes," is also known for being a great destination for outdoor recreation due to its 330 lakes within the city, including Lake Wanapitei, the world's largest lake, Ramsey Lake, Kelly Lake, and Nepahwin Lake, to name a few, as well as its rivers and forests, which provide opportunities for outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, and camping.
As the largest nickel-mining district in the world, Sudbury is also referred to as "Nickel City," "Nickel Capital," and "Big Nickel."
