Sichuan province is situated in southwest China, on the eastern part of the Tibetan Plateau. Part of the province is within the Sichuan Basin, and part composed of mountains ranges with stunning valleys such as Jiuzhaigou and scenic areas such as Huanglong - with forests, waterfalls, hot springs and home to vulnerable animals such as the giant panda. These animals can be visited at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, situated north of the city centre of the province’s capital, Chengdu.
