Međimurje County (Međimurska županija) is the northernmost county of Croatia, bordering the countries of Hungary (east) and Slovenia (northwest), and whose administrative centre is the city of Čakovec.
In the towns and villages near the Mura River, in the northern part of the county, there are numerous sites offering recreational activities in nature and sports. There are vineyards on the slopes of the Alpine foothills, forested and agricultural areas in the county. In fact, the rural tourism is developed in this part of Croatia, for instance in Sveti Martin na Muri, a village which has an established bathing tourism as well.
