Famagusta District is on the eastern part of the island country of Cyprus. This region has territories in both the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (north, east) and in the Republic of Cyprus (south).
The city of Famagusta is best visited by car or on foot, to stroll through the Old Town. Part of the city was closed to visitors by the Turkish military.
The northern part is the most populated, visited for its beaches, clear waters and nature. The headland of Cape Greco offers outstanding beauty, sea cliffs, sea caves, beaches and hiking trails in nature. Cape Grego is within the resort town of Ayia Napa, which offers excellent beaches.
