Karlovy Vary (Karlovarský kraj) is a region in western Czech Republic. As the region is rich with hot springs, it became a famous spa region, since the 19th century. Just in the capital, Karlovy Vary, a bright town situated at the confluence of two rivers, there are 13 major springs, around 300 smaller ones, and the warm water of Teplá River. The region offers natural, impressive landscapes with trails, and besides hiking, golf is also a popular sport. Karlovy Vary region is cultural dynamic, holding important events such the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the International Jazz Festival and Beethoven Days.
