At the vibrant Old Town Square in the historic centre of the city, the most popular markets are held throughout the year, especially the well-known Christmas Market from late November to early January.
The square features outstanding buildings such as the 14th-century gothic church, the Church of the Mother of God before Týn, and the magnificent Kinský Palace, a former palace now housing an art museum. At the centre of the square stands the huge Jan Hus Memorial, one of the most important Art Nouveau and Symbolist works of Czech monumental sculpture.
