Denmark (Danmark) is the southernmost country in the geographical region of Scandinavia, in Northern Europe. Denmark comprises the Jutland Peninsula and 443 named islands. Formally called the Kingdom of Denmark, the state also includes the Faroe Islands and the Greenland, two autonomous constituent countries in the North Atlantic Ocean. Copenhagen is Denmark’s capital, a vibrant and distinctive city on the east part of the island of Zealand. Among the numerous attractions in Copenhagen, there is the second oldest amusement park in the world, the Tivoli Gardens, offering beauty, leisure as well as top restaurants and accommodation. The historic centre of Copenhagen (Indre By) is the core of the city around rectangular lakes, featuring narrow picturesque streets, landmarks and outstanding shopping options.
Denmark has other charming historic cities including Odense, in the island of Funen, Ribe, the country's oldest town, Skagen, at the north end of the country, Ærøskøbing, on the island of Ærø, Christiansfeld in Southern Jutland, and Hillerød, within the Capital Region of Denmark.
