The ferries on this river - the River Medina, connect the towns of Cowes with East Cowes, just across the river, and with Newport to the south. Cowes has also the services of the Isle of Wight Ferry linking the island with the mainland. Cowes is best known for hosting sailing international competitions namely the Cowes Week and the Swan Regatta.
