Kontiolahti Biathlon is beautifully set on a hill above Lake Höytiäinen, in the eastern North Karelia region. This is a splendid area for outdoor sports namely cross-country skiing, featuring tall pine forests with trails, rivers and lakes.
Kontiolahti hosted three Biathlon World Championships so far - in 1990, 1999 and 2015.
