North Ostrobothnia (Pohjois-Pohjanmaa) is a region in Finland. It shares borders with Russia and the Finnish regions of Kainuu, Northern Savonia (Pohjois-Savo), Central Finland, Central Ostrobothnia and Lapland. The administrative centre of North Ostrobothnia is in the city of Oulu, the largest city in Northern Finland, and an important high-tech centre.
In the city of Kuusamo you will find Ruka ski resort, featuring the longest ski season in Finland, and areas for all levels of skiers. In the unique Ruka pedestrian village you will find hotels, restaurants and other amenities. Also in Kuusamo is the outstanding Oulanka National Park with distinctive ecosystems.
Outdoor recreation areas include Koitelinkoski, an outstanding place along the Kiiminkijoki River, ideal to watch the rapids, and walk over wooden trails among the wonderful scenery.
