The north extremity of Île d'Oléron, an island located only 3 kilometres off the coast of France, is displayed on this live cam. The house shown on the image, Maison de la Pointe, was built in 1685 as a means of signalising ship navigation, and serves nowadays as a souvenir shop. This island, which is part of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, is a frequent tourist destination and is well served by boat trip companies.
