The live webcams will take you to Aomori Prefecture situated in the northern part of Honshu, Japan’s main island. The region shares borders with Iwate Prefecture to the southeast, Akita Prefecture to the southwest and has coastlines on the Sea of Japan to the west, the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Tsugaru Strait to the north.
The prefecture’s capital, Aomori, is a port city, being the main port for car ferries to Hokkaido across the Tsugaru Strait. It is known for its summer festival Aomori Nebuta Matsuri and offers many attractions including museums, hot springs (onsens) and food specialties.
Other major city is Hachinohe recognized for its wonderful seaside on the Tanesashi Coast, the magnificent Kabushima Shrine and Tatehana Wharf Morning Market. The city of Hirosaki is renowned for its cherry blossom scene around Hirosaki Castle.
Among the region’s beautiful natural landscapes are volcanic mountains namely Mount Iwaki, the prefecture’s highest point, known as the “Tsugaru Fuji”.
