Located in the centre of Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, this live webcam looks out over Hirosaki Park, which is famous for its gorgeous cherry blossom trees and the annual Hirosaki Sakura Festival, held in mid-April.
Hirosaki Park, which surrounds Hirosaki Castle and contains approximately 2,600 cherry trees (some of which are over 100 years old), is regarded as one of Japan's best places to view cherry blossoms. During cherry blossom season, the park is illuminated at night, creating a pleasant and romantic atmosphere.
Visitors from all over the world come to see the natural spectacle of cherry blossom trees in the spring, in late April and early May, as well as many other seasonal events held throughout the year, such as the autumn leaf festival and the winter snow lantern festival.
During the hot summer days, the park trees in this beautiful city park are at their greenest, providing welcome shade for a leisurely stroll, a brisk run, or a peaceful picnic. Mount Iwaki ("Iwakisan" in Japanese) is about 15 kilometres east-northeast of Hirosaki city and can be seen from here on a clear day.
The Hirosaki Castle, the Historical Museum, and the beautiful botanical gardens are all located within Hirosaki Park, which is highlighted on the map below.
