This live HD streaming takes you to Kyoto, the cultural capital of Japan, situated on the island of Honshu.
The webcam displays Higashi Hongan-ji (東本願寺), one of the two head temples of Shin Buddhist in the world; the other one is Nishi Higashi.
Honganji Hongan-ji, originally built in 1658, is also known as the Eastern Temple of the Original Vow, and popularly called Ohigashi-san in Kyoto.
The Founder's Hall, at the centre of the temple, is one of the world's largest wooden structures presenting a wooden image of Shinran, the founder of Jōdo Shinshū Buddhism. Within Higashi Honganji there is a mausoleum from the 12th century containing the ashes of Shinran.
Around the Buddhist temple there is a beautiful garden filled with flowers throughout the year.
