This live webcam overlooks the entrance to the National Museum of Luang Prabang, also called the Royal Palace Museum, in the city of Luang Prabang, Laos.
Here is a beautiful perspective of the temple Haw Pha Bang, or the "golden palace," which is located in the northeast corner of the Royal Palace Museum compound, within what was once the residence of the Laos Royal family. This traditional-style temple is a recent addition to the National Museum. It was built specifically to house the shrine of Phra Bang, the most sacred Buddha statue in Luang Prabang.
The museum, as shown on the map further down the page, is made up of the former Royal Palace and gardens, which date back to the early 1900s. In fact, Luang Prabang was the capital city of the Kingdom of Laos until 1975.
This National Museum contains a few buildings in French colonial style, including the preserved royal quarters, the crown jewel, and other artefacts of King Sisavang Vong. You will also learn more about the history of Luang Prabang and Laos.
