The capital city of the same name - Alytus, is on a bend of the Nemunas River, surrounded by picturesque hills, and the Old Garden of the city embellishes the town centre. The spa town of Druskininkai is home to attractions such as the Musical Fountain, besides its healing waters. The county is known for its hundreds of lakes amidst the greenery of forest.
