Žabljak Municipality is situated in northern Montenegro. It is a significant winter destination in the country with ski resorts such as Savin Kuk Ski Centre, in Virak.
The administrative centre is at the city of Žabljak, situated at the highest altitude of the Balkans (1456m). It is surrounded by the breathtaking Durmitor National Park, a mountainous region part of the Dinaric Alps. Here you will find deep gorges, forests, eighteen glacier lakes, known as the “mountain eyes”, many species of flora and birds, and the incredible Tara River Canyon.
Žabljak Municipality is ideal for memorable outdoor experiences such as rafting on the Tara River and canyoning in Nevidio Canyon. Other excellent options include mountaineering, skiing, hiking, mountain biking and drive around the Durmitor Mountain in a circular route called Durmitor ring.
