Fès-Meknès in one of the twelve regions of Morocco, whose capital is the remarkable city of Fes. Also called Fez, this is the oldest of the imperial cities in Morocco that was three times the country’s capital. With a strong cultural heritage, it features traditions and historical landmarks that amaze its visitors. The Medina of Fez, called Fes El Bali, is a World Heritage Site filled with remarkable buildings. Among these are the Madrasa Bou Inania, Medersa al-Attarine, the Islamic shrine Zawiya of Moulay Idris II, Dar al-Magana (water clock) and the University of al-Qarawiyyin, considered the oldest, still operating university in the world. The beautiful city of Meknes is best known for its spectacular gate Bab Mansour and the palace complex Kasbah of Moulay Ismail.
