Kaski District ( कास्की जिल्ला) is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Nepal, situated in north-central part of the country.
This district encompasses parts of the Annapurna, a massif in the Himalayas with many high peaks, with the highest at 8,091 metres (26,545 ft) above sea level.
These mountain landscapes can be admired from many villages such as Ghandruk and Pokhara. The last one is the district’s administrative centre, a significant metropolis, considered the tourism capital of Nepal, and a base for trekkers venturing the Annapurna Circuit. As set in Pokhara valley, there is an abundance of bodies of water, perhaps the most attractive is Phewa Lake - with the Tal Barahi Temple on a tiny island. In fact, Pokhara has many temples and pagodas including the Pokhara Shanti Stupa, a World Peace Pagoda as it was constructed as a symbol of peace.
