Streaming live from Kathmandu, the lively capital of Nepal, the high-definition webcam above displays the site of Swayambhunath Temple, the traffic on Kanti Path road, the Tudikhel playground, a large field where locals play cricket, and the cityscapes around it.

The cam is set by the 19th-century watchtower Dharahara in Kathmandu district, as you may see on the map further down the page. This remarkable landmark, which was rebuilt in 2021, is 72 metres (236 feet) tall and was damaged many times until most of it collapsed in the 2015 Nepal earthquake. The magnificent base of this structure is displayed here. Also shown is the grand ancient religious complex of Swayambhunath atop a hill. Both monuments, Swayambhunath and Dharahara, are part of the architectural heritage of Kathmandu and have been declared the Kathmandu Valley World Heritage Site (WHS) by UNESCO.
