This city was founded as Heraclea Lyncestis in the 4th century BC. Heraclea Lyncestis’ ruins are a tourist attraction situated 2 km south of Bitola.

The city of Prilep, with approximately 77 thousand residents, is nicknamed "The City Under Marko’s Towers". It lies below a bare hill, featuring the ruins of a mediaeval fortress on a hill as well as a large number of churches and monasteries. It is the Macedonian tobacco and beer capital, and where the whitest marble in the world is found, called "Sivec."
Pelister National Park is located in Pelagonia, which straddles North Macedonia's southern border with Greece.
This national park is known for its magnificent mountain scenery, diverse wildlife, and a prominent Ski Centre on Baba Mountain.
