The Central Luzon region is bounded to the south by Manila Bay, to the west by the China Sea, and to the east by the Philippine Sea, and it shares borders with the northern regions of Cagayan Valley and Ilocos, as well as the National Capital Region, Calabarzon to the south.
The region is made up of seven provinces and fifteen cities, the majority of which have populations of more than 100,000 people. Provinces and cities are: Aurora, Bataan (Balanga city), Bulacan (cities: Baliwag, Malolos, Meycauayan, San Jose del Monte), Nueva Ecija (cities: Cabanatuan, Gapan, Muñoz, Palayan, San Jose), Pampanga (cities: Angeles City, Mabalacat, San Fernando), Tarlac (Tarlac city), and Zambales (Olongapo City).
Central Luzon is well-known for its rich history and culture, as well as its thriving agriculture and industry. It has the country's largest plain and a large rice production, earning it the nickname "Rice Granary of the Philippines."
San Fernando, the capital city, has attractions for all tastes, from monuments to recreation, and is famous for the San Fernando Giant Lantern Festival in December.
