This live moving webcam displays stunning views over Calheta, a municipality on the southwest coast of the Portuguese island of Madeira.
The cam stream provided by Webcamtaxi and Madeira-web is hosted and mounted at the MUDAS. Contemporary Art Museum (MUDAS. Museu de Arte Contemporânea), an impressive modern structure designed by globally renowned Madeira award-winning architect Paulo David, located on a cliff top in Estreito da Calheta parish, offering beautiful views towards Calheta beach, the Marina "Porto de Recreio da Calheta" the central area of Calheta municipality and the dramatic mountains.
At the MUDAS museum, you will find a beautiful, modern building housing contemporary art, including a cafe and a restaurant.
The distinctive sandy beach of Praia da Calheta was the first artificial beach in Madeira, with sand imported from Morocco. The two beaches are sheltered by breakwaters and can get crowed during the summer. In the village you may visit the old Sugar Cane Museum (Engenho da Calheta) where you will learn about the sugar cane culture, which was important to Madeira's economical life.
There are natural wonders to explore in Calheta, such as paths in nature, along water courses called "levadas," and other striking hiking areas in the exuberant mountains.
