This is also a great spot to watch live fireworks over Câmara de Lobos bay in June (Saint Peter Festival 29th at midnight) and in December (Santa Claus arrival on the 7th).
As you can see on this live stream, at Ponta da Cruz you have the entrance to the beach Pool complex Doca do Cavacas and access to the seafront promenade, which connects Lido to Câmara de Lobos.
