Khabarovsk Krai (Хаба́ровский край) is a krai, or a federal subject, of Russia in the Far East part of the country. Khabarovsk Krai has an extensive shoreline in the east, with the Sea of Okhotsk in the northern area and the Strait of Tartary in the south. This southern region is set mostly in the water basin of the Amur River while the northern part is highly mountainous along the coast.
The large city of Khabarovsk is the administrative centre of the krai with the same name. The city is on the Amur River, close to the border with China. It is a beautiful city with parks such as the wonderful Khabarovsk Arboretum, riversides with lively promenades and beaches, vibrant streets and markets. In the city centre stands the exquisite Cathedral of the Assumption of the Mother of God, outstanding museums and historical landmarks.
