Krasnoyarsk Krai, a federal subject of Russia, situated in the central area of the geographical region of Siberia. This krai is the third largest country subdivision in the world with an area of 2,339,700 square kilometres (903,400 sq mi) spanning from the Sayan Mountains in the south to the Taymyr Peninsula in the north. There are other smaller striking peninsulas along the coastline and the krai includes several islands off the coast.
The administrative centre is at the city of Krasnoyarsk, where you can enjoy views to the wide Yenisei River, to the distinctive bridges across it, excellent museums and a lively ambience.
On the outskirts of the city you will find the famous Stolby Nature Reserve, known for its remarkable rocks formations, being an exceptional site for hiking and climbing.
As a huge region, Krasnoyarsk Krai has large areas of wonderful unspoiled landscapes such as Sayano-Shushenski Nature Reserve in the West Sayan Mountains of south Siberia, the Great Arctic State Nature Reserve and the Putorana Plateau, as well as many lakes and rivers.
