The central square (Ploshchad Lenina) in the heart of the city hosts city events such as festivities, the Christmas tree, and ice sculptures in the winter, and beautiful gardens in the summer. Accommodation, a playground, a market place, a cafe, and small shops are located throughout the space. Mirny is one of the largest towns in Russia's Sakha Republic, with a population of around 37 thousand people.
