The province of Vojvodina (Војводина) is in northern Serbia, in the Pannonian Plain. This fertile province is cut by the Tisa and the Danube rivers, dividing Vojvodina into the regions of Banat (east), Syrmia (southwest) and Bačka (northwest). Novi Sad, the capital city, is on the riverside of the Danube, with numerous attractions along the pedestrian street of Zmaj Jovina. In Novi Sad, you may also have a refreshing time at the Štrand, a great sandy beach by the river, or in the many parks all over the city. The marvelous landscapes of the mountains of Fruška Gora in this province are a major travel destination in Serbia. If features wildlife, vineyards, and is famed for the sixteen monasteries built between the 16th and 18th centuries.
