This real-time webcam stream offers a sweeping vista of Seongsan Ilchulbong, in Seogwipo (서귀포시, 西歸浦市), a city in the southern district of Jeju Island, South Korea.
This natural wonder, known as Seongsan Sunrise Peak, took shape over 5,000 years ago through volcanic eruptions. It became a natural monument on July 19, 2000, and UNESCO recognised its geological importance on July 2, 2007, adding it to the World Natural Heritage List.
This towering tuff cone stands at an impressive 182 metres in height and boasts a well-preserved crater that forms a unique bowl-like shape. The inner structures, shaped by the relentless sea cliffs, add to its awe-inspiring beauty.
Originally, Seongsan Ilchulbong was an island separate from Jeju's mainland, but over time, sand and gravel created a connecting road during low tide. In 1940, a permanent road was constructed, seamlessly linking it to the mainland.
Beyond its geological wonders, Seongsan Ilchulbong is a treasure trove of flora, featuring 222 plant species, including six rare ones like special ferns, delicate orchids, and enigmatic parasitic plants.
Climbing to the top takes about an hour, and there's an admission fee. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with a majestic view of the expansive crater and the vast ocean beyond. This view has been celebrated since ancient times, earning its place as the best among Jeju's 10 scenic spots.
This location has long been renowned for its sunrise vista and hosts the annual Seongsan Sunrise Festival on December 31st.
The park welcomes visitors from 7:10 a.m. to 19:00 p.m. in summer and 7:30 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. in winter.
The camera is situated at the Seongsan Ilchulbong Parking Lot, as you can see in the image above, and its precise location can be found on the map further down the page.
