The region of Yeongnam is situated in the southwestern part of South Korea. It includes the provinces of North Gyeongsang and South Gyeongsang, as well as the self-governing cities of Busan, Daegu, Pohang and Ulsan.
South Gyeongsang has its provincial capital at Changwon, Korea’s first planned city. Changwon is located on the coast featuring several beaches, many wonderful parks, and it is home to several festivals throughout the year. To the east of Changwon lies Busan Metropolitan City with the busiest port in Korea. Busan is a cultural, economic and education centre in Korea, with countless attractions from seaside resorts, hot spring resorts and spas, ecological parks, museums, temples and the unique Gamcheon Culture Village.
Andong is the capital city of North Gyeongsang Province, and known for preserving folk traditions, cultural festivities as well as the local food. In Andong you may visit Hahoe Folk Village, listed as World Heritage Site. In the east coast of the region you will find the city of Pohang where you may enjoy a fantastic nightlife in the downtown, wonderful views at night, namely the multicoloured lights at POSCO, one of the world's largest steel companies. In Ulsan Metropolitan City, bounded by the Sea of Japan, you will find the only whale museum in Korea, wonderful coastal paths and beaches. From Ulsan you may head to Yeongnam Alps Mountain Region offering trails, temples and splendid views.
