After a week of increased seismic activity, the Cumbre Vieja volcano erupts for the first time since 1971 on Sunday September 19th around 3:30 p.m., sending lava and ash into the air and a river of lava flowing into houses, forcing approximately 5,500 residents to evacuate.
See our map further down the page for the location of one of the Canary Islands' most active volcanoes.

This live streaming webcam is towards Playa de Los Cancajos, a lovely volcanic black sand beach nestled on the rugged seaside in Breña Baja municipality, in the charming Canarian island of La Palma, Spain.
