The canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden (Kanton Appenzell Innerrhoden) is in the northeast part of Switzerland, being one of smallest cantons (administrative divisions) of the country. Appenzell Innerrhoden has beautiful rural and hilly scenery with scattered villages amidst the pleasant verdant landscapes. This region is divided into the districts of Appezenl, Gonten, Oberegg, Rüte, Schlatt-Haslen and Schwende, having no major urban centres. The capital of the canton is Appenzell, a charming town with tiny streets, colourful houses, and historic buildings. This canton has superb mountains accessible by cable ways, rolling hills with hiking paths and scenic mountain lakes.  In this region, visit the Mount Säntis, the peak of the Appenzell Alps, with incredible views to Switzerland and spanning to Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, France, and Italy on a clear day! A cable car takes you to the observation deck at the top for an unforgettable panorama!
