Schaffhausen is one of Switzerland’s 26 cantons, situated in the northernmost part of the country and almost totally on the right side of the Rhine River, where it borders the canton of Zurich. Towns are scattered and as picturesque as the capital, Schaffhausen, whose old town (Altstadt) is full of history, such as that told for example by the frescos in the buildings. The territory is mostly plain, except for the mountains in the northern part, which decline into hills towards the south forming valleys. Abundant in fertile lands, the canton is well used for agriculture (around 45%). See more on the live cams of this picturesque canton.
