Taipei City, commonly known as Taipei (臺北市), is a special municipality and the capital of Taiwan. It is also an enclave, as it is completely surrounded by the special municipality of New Taipei City. Located in the northern part of the island, Taipei is the heart of Greater Taipei, and the hub of the country. Its landscape is marked by the Tamsui River, with large green banks, and it is interesting to see the junction of water streams with this major river that flows towards the South China Sea – this image can be compared to people coming from all parts of Taiwan to gather in this city, thus forming a big urban profusion.
The Taipei area is an example of a lively, dynamic metropolis combining the ultramodern constructions with the traditional ones and the beauty of its nature.
