The semi-autonomous region of Zanzibar is an archipelago of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean, about 25-50 kilometres off the mainland. This region is composed of Zanzibar Island (Unguja), Pemba Island and several smaller islands. It is a popular tourist destination for its impressive beaches, tropical weather, and many attractions! The capital, Zanzibar City, has a remarkable historic area – Stone Town a cultural centre from diverse influences, with markets, a beautiful waterfront, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
