The U.S. state of Delaware is located in Delmarva Peninsula, on the east coast of North America to the Atlantic, bordering Maryland and Virginia. The east coastline of the peninsula is bathed by the Delaware Bay that stretches from Lewes city deep into the Middletown Village area.
This state, the second smallest in the U.S., has the country’s lowest average altitude (18m), with the highest point being only 137m, which explains the vast network of bicycle routes throughout the state. The landscape consists mainly of pastures in the north, marshy regions and sandy beaches in the south, besides the numerous rivers, bridges and inland lakes.
