The beautiful port is on the southern shores of Lake Erie, at the mouth of the Black River, and is known for being the best place for breathtaking sunsets.
In the distance is Lorain West Breakwater Light, commonly known as Lorain Harbor Lighthouse. The historical lighthouse was built in 1917 and replaced in 1965 by an automated light tower. The former lighthouse, the "Jewel of the Port", is open to visitors.
