The state of Pennsylvania, formally named Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is situated in the northeast part of the United States. It shares borders with the U.S. sates of Maryland to the south, West Virginia to the southwest, Ohio to the west, New York to the north, New Jersey to the east and Delaware to the southeast; Canada and the Lake Erie are to the northwest. Pennsylvania has numerous historical sites from the America Revolution such as in the capital Harrisburg. In Harrisburg you may also visit the City Island on the Susquehanna River offering a distinctive park.
In the largest city in the state, Philadelphia, is the Liberty Bell, a symbol of the American independence, which can be seen in the Independence National Historical Park along with other landmarks associated with the American Revolution. Here, the main site is the Independence Hall where the United States Constitution and the Declaration of Independence where discussed and adopted. Another major attraction in Philadelphia is the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the museum’s entrance steps known as the “Rocky Steps” for featuring on the film “Rocky”. Historical monuments are also seen in small cities throughout Pennsylvania such as in Lewistown.
